  • Johnson County Museum of History: 

Johnson County Museum of History offers a glimpse into the region's past with exhibits, artifacts, and interactive displays. The museum celebrates the heritage and culture of Franklin and its surroundings. Permanent exhibits cover early Native American inhabitants, pioneer settlers, Victorian life, the Civil War, the military, life in Johnson County in the 1950s and art by historic and contemporary Johnson County artists.The museum also features temporary exhibits, as well as a genealogy library and a gift shop.  My family played a part of Johnson County history so I really enjoy learning here and the genealogy library has great resources - not just for people with family from Johnson County.


  • Province Park and Young Creek Park



Province Park, located in 389 E. Monroe St. Franklin, Indiana, spanning 50 acres, provides a diverse range of recreational activities, including picnicking, horseshoes, fishing, biking, running, walking, and in-line skating. The park offers various amenities, such as picnic areas, two shelter houses, a swimming pool, softball fields, playgrounds, a basketball court, and the Franklin Greenway Trail, covering 60 acres. Perfect for family reunions and outdoor fun! 


And if you are looking for a place to cater your special event, check out Beeson Hall just adjacent to the Province Park at 396 Branigin Blvd. The hall offers 5,000 square feet of space for catered wedding receptions, business meetings, corporate parties, educational meetings, anniversary celebrations, or your other special event.


Youngs Creek Park is situated at 237 West Monroe Street in Franklin, Indiana. It’s one of Franklin’s newest park spanning 15 acres, this vibrant greenspace offers a delightful array of amenities, including a splash pad, playground, eight pickleball courts, greenway trail, vendor areas, and an enchanting amphitheater. Don't miss out on this must-visit destination!


This beautifully restored theater showcases a mix of classic films, independent movies, and live performances including seasonal favorites like It’s a Wonderful Life (1946), along with regular live music performances. It is the longest running-movie theatre in Franklin and remains one of the most intact Art Deco movie houses in central Indiana and is listed on the Indiana State Register of Historic Places.

The beautifully restored barn, set amidst rolling hills and picturesque views, offers ample space and modern amenities. From indoor and outdoor areas for ceremonies and receptions to dressing rooms, catering spaces, and event coordination services, The Barn at Crystal Springs Farm ensures a memorable and personalized experience for gatherings of varying sizes and styles. I acknowledge I am a little biased on this farm and barn which is owned by cousins and years ago the farm was owned by my second great-grandfather!

Franklin College located at 101 Branigin Blvd in Franklin, Indiana, is a private liberal arts college founded in 1834. It is the oldest college in the state. My 3rd great grandfather served on its Board.  My mother, grandparents and great-great grandparents attended Franklin. The college offers over 50 majors and minors in fields like biology, business, communication, and computer science. The campus spans 207 acres with a mix of historic and modern buildings. Close to downtown Franklin, students enjoy the vibe of a thriving social scene on and off-campus. Franklin College also competes in NCAA Division III sports for both men and women.


  • The Garment  Factory

Garment Factory Events is situated at 101 East Wayne Street, Franklin. Originally a garment factory, it has been transformed into an elegant space for weddings, celebrations, corporate events, and community gatherings. The venue offers multiple rooms, including the spacious Franklin Room with a downtown view, the Province Room overlooking Province Park, and the Bridal Room for wedding parties.  The Lounge restaurant you can enjoy nightly and is separate from the events they may be hosting.

Located at 99 N. Main St. in downtown Franklin, The Willard is a historic building dating back to 1860. They specialize in delicious pizzas, chicken wings, and sandwiches. With a wide selection of over 75 beers and spirits, they offer a great choice of drinks. Enjoy the beautiful view of the Johnson County Courthouse and their outdoor dining space. It's the perfect spot for a tasty meal before or after a show at The Artcraft Theater, just steps away.

Richard's Brick Oven Pizza at 229 South Main St in Franklin is a popular pizza restaurant opened in 2009 by Chef Richard Goss and Meg Jones. They offer Neapolitan-style pizzas baked in an authentic brick oven. Their menu includes appetizers, calzones, skillet lasagna, pasta dishes, and specialty pizzas. Dessert options like Chocolate Truffle and Tiramisu are available. They also serve fine wines, draft beer, bottled beer, and locally crafted sodas.

Court Street Cafe, at 39 East Court St, Franklin, serves delicious meals since 2015. Their "over-sized" burgers have gained recognition and were featured in Indy's South Magazine. The cafe offers a diverse menu with classic American favorites like sandwiches, wraps, salads, and homemade soups. They take pride in using fresh ingredients. Additionally, Court Street Cafe provides catering services for weddings, corporate meetings, family gatherings, graduations, and birthdays.
